Description:
ARAP1 (ArfGAP with RhoGAP domain, ankyrin repeat and PH domain 1) is a phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate-dependent GTPase-activating protein that modulates actin cytoskeleton remodeling by regulating ARF and RHO family members. STARD10 (StAR related lipid transfer domain containing 10) is involved in the control of lipid biology and cell trafficking. A cluster of SNPs spanning ARAP1 and the adjacent STARD10 genes showed modest association with increasing alloantibodies in sickle cell disease.
