Description:
The encoded protein is a zinc finger protein involved in the regulation of γ-globin transcription. ZNF410 is widely expressed across human tissues. In erythroid cells, it specifically binds to two genome-wide unique and highly conserved motif clusters in the CHD4 locus. A series of experiments showed that ZNF410 interacts with the CHD4/NuRD component to repress γ-globin transcription in erythroid cells. Loss of ZNF410 can de-repress the γ-globin genes and lead to an increase in γ-globin transcription without affecting erythroid differentiation/maturation. ZNF410 is a candidate regulator of HbF expression and a potential target for HbF induction for β-haemoglobinopathies.
