IthaID: 110

Names and Sequences

Functionality: Globin gene causative mutation Pathogenicity: N/A
Common Name: IVS I-5 (G>A) + Corfu deletion HGVS Name: NG_000007.3:g.57237_64443del7207; HBB:c.92+5G>A
Hb Name: N/A Protein Info: N/A

Also known as: 7.2 kb Corfu δβ thalassaemia, Corfu (δβ)0

Comments: The Corfu 7.2 kb delta-thalassaemia deletion in linkage to the (β)+-thalassaemia mutation IVSI-5 G>A results in the allele known as Corfu delta beta thalassaemia mutation. Note it has been shown that the Corfu delta beta thalassaemia mutation does not completely abolish the expression of the beta-globin gene (ref. PMID: 1720325)

We follow the HGVS sequence variant nomenclature and IUPAC standards.
